BTP Systems LLC comes out from stealth mode

Western Mass startup achieves $1 million in sales in its first year

December 5, 2004, Chicopee, MA – BTP Systems LLC, a provider of design, technical and manufacturing services has come out from being in stealth mode for the first year of its operations.  Founded thirteen months ago by former defense sub-contractor employees, BTP Systems has quickly gained the attention of several Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and large defense contractors.

“We started out refurbishing satellite communications systems, based on our extensive knowledge of manufacturing these types of systems,” said Bud Beaudry, President of BTP Systems, “but soon found our business growing beyond that.  Our government and prime contractor customers value our ability to reverse engineer complex electromechanical equipment for refurbishment or maintenance, thus bringing us a variety of interesting projects.  Our in-house engineering capabilities, proven project management skills and precision machining partnerships enable us to offer our customers a full-service solution.”  Senior Engineer Dave Salvage adds, “Our capabilities are literally limitless, because we’ll pursue whatever partnerships are needed to satisfy the customer’s need.”

To date, the firm has refurbished or manufactured defense hardware ranging from U.S. Navy satellite antennas mounted on ships to missile launching hardware that go on submarines.  The company’s intelligent ability to understand the customer’s end use and the high levels of customer satisfaction it has earned are getting the company in a number of new areas of fabrication, systems integration and technical services.

At the heart of BTP systems success is the experience of its management.  The BTP Systems team brings a combined 25 years in the manufacture and sale of satellite communications equipment to the defense industry.  President Bud Beaudry led the satellite communications division at Millitech Inc., which grew from 6 to 42 employees in 15 years.  Number two guy, Dave Salvage, having commissioned a U.S. Navy destroyer as an engineer and operations officer, brings unique insight into how the government and its prime contractors presently get (or more importantly, don’t get) their equipment manufacturing and refurbishment needs met.  The 5-person team is skilled in the nuances of government documentation, protocols and requirements.  Their extensive personal contacts within the defense industry have enabled BTP Systems to get a running start in the marketplace.

The results speak for themselves.  BTP Systems has hit $1 million in revenue in its first year and expects to be at $5 million in three years.  “The defense industry has lacked refurbishing solutions for complex electromechanical devices," said Dave Salvage, Vice President of Engineering and Programs.  “They’re not used to dealing with a partner that knows the end application, knows the ‘system’, gets the job done quickly and gets it done right the first time.  Our customers are delighted that BTP Systems is finally filling this void.”

About BTP Systems

BTP Systems LLC is a story of four employees who left their established careers with a recognized defense subcontractor to fill a market void in the refurbishment of complex electro-mechanical devices.  Building upon 25 years of collective experience in the manufacture of over 800 of U.S. Navy satellite communications terminals, they founded BTP Systems and were enthusiastically embraced by the market that lacked a consistent and willing partner in the servicing of this equipment.

Leveraging their in-house engineering and project management talent, BTP Systems offers design, technical and manufacturing services, to numerous defense customers.  A lean and flexible privately-held company, BTP Systems can deploy an endless set of capabilities through its manufacturing partners to achieve its customer’s objectives.  For more information about BTP Systems, call 413-593-3568 or visit their website: www.btpsystems.com.
