Drafter I

Overview

BTP Systems, an established and fast growing DOD contractor specializing in the repair, sustainment, design, and testing of military SATCOM systems and support equipment is seeking a Drafter I to make engineering and production level drawings in accordance with the standards, rules and guidelines called out by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as well as BTP Systems. This includes all aspects of the drawing but not limited to: drawing title box, part material properties, drawing views, datums, tolerances, geometric dimensioning callouts, notes and revision control. Candidate will work with the engineering team as well as the machinists and technicians to validate that the drawing meets the design requirements. Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create, update, and modify designs for both solid models and drawings. 

Essential Functions:

  • Extensive solid modeling and drafting using SolidWorks 3D CAD software
  • Create CAD drawings for engineering design projects
  • Support mechanical engineering team with all aspects of projects, including creating drawings from models, generating parts lists, and completing Engineering Change Orders
  • Create and modify designs as directed by the engineering team
  • Work with current geometric tolerance and ASME standards, utilizing standard drafting practices
  • Use Microsoft Office tools including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and MS Visio
  • Interact with all levels of management, employees, and vendors to accomplish tasks leading to the creation/revision of BTP product drawings and other presentation documents and media
  • Use various file management software
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering. A four year formal vocational high school degree of mechanical drafting (CAD) and/or actual Design drafting experience is acceptable in lieu of an Associate's degree
  • CAD knowledge of SolidWorks is preferred
  • CSWA (Certified SolidWorks Associate) SolidWorks experience preferred

Electrical Engineer

Overview

BTP Systems, an established and fast growing DOD contractor specializing in the repair, sustainment, design, and testing of military SATCOM systems and support equipment, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to perform the required research, design, development and documentation to production release. 

Essential Functions

  • Direct and oversee test technicians and support personnel as required
  • Collaborate with senior staff and program management to negotiate/resolve specification, performance, schedule, and delivery issues
  • Work directly with mechanical engineering area to define/develop all electromechanical design requirements
  • Maintain project plan and schedule and expedite project execution with other groups (Management, Purchasing, Drafting, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.)
  • Define system/component block diagrams, identify candidate components and analyze electrical performance utilizing available CAD tools
  • Perform detailed circuit and subsystem design utilizing appropriate CAD tools
  • Identify and resolve electrical performance issues
  • Manage the development of the documentation package required to manufacture the product
  • Prepare for and conduct preliminary design, critical design and production readiness reviews (and other reviews as appropriate) following the BTP Gate Review process
  • Coordinate the assembly of prototype and pilot production modules with Operations
  • Debug, tune and test prototype and pilot production units
  • Conduct/support product qualification testing
  • Supervise and/or assist in the design of assembly aids, test fixtures, test stations, burn-in fixtures, etc.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 3-5+ years of experience
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit designs
  • Knowledge of circuit simulations tools such as LT Spice
  • Knowledge of control loops and FPGA capabilities including software development and implementation
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly, PXI platform, and motion controls are a plus
  • Familiarity with microwave principles and test equipment is a plus
  • Software - LabVIEW, VHDL, C++
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work closely with senior engineering and manufacturing personnel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working knowledge of computer aided electrical analysis tools

Mechanical Engineer

Overview

BTP Systems, an established and fast growing DOD contractor specializing in the repair, sustainment, design, and testing of military SATCOM systems and support equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to perform the required research, design, development and documentation activities for testing and evaluating mechanical and electromechanical devices and systems found in BTP manufacturing and refurbishment activities. 

Essential Functions

  • Work directly with electrical engineering area to define/develop all electromechanical design requirements
  • Conduct the necessary fixture, tooling and product development activities, including CAD layout and simulations necessary to document the interpretation of customer specifications and internal requirements
  • Initiate engineering studies and manufacturing process evaluations
  • Direct and oversee test technicians and support personnel as required
  • Generate documentation used for the BTP manufacturing and refurbishment process including procedures and datasheets
  • Collaborate with senior staff and program management to negotiate/resolve specification, performance, schedule, and delivery issues
  • Maintain project plan and schedule and expedite project execution with other groups (Management, Purchasing, Drafting, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.)
  • Responsible for design through fabrication of mechanical components/products and fixtures utilized in BTP manufacturing, refurbishment and test
  • Perform analysis for product related tolerance stacking, thermal stress and environmental exposure resistance
  • Collect, analyze and extrapolate process data
  • Manage the development of the documentation package required to manufacture the product
  • Prepare for and conduct preliminary design, critical design and production readiness reviews (and other reviews as appropriate) following the BTP Gate Review Process
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5+ years of experience
  • A working knowledge of materials and their behaviors
  • Fundamental knowledge of metal fabrication and joining processes
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work closely with senior engineering and manufacturing personnel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Jr. Technician

Overview

BTP Systems, an established and fast growing DOD contractor specializing in the repair, sustainment, design, and testing of military SATCOM systems and support equipment, is seeking a Jr. Technician to join its growing team.
Following standard work methods on recurring assignments but will receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Technical adequacy of routing work will be reviewed on completion; non routine work may also be reviewed in process. 

Essential Functions

  • Operate an electric forklift to move product within the facility
  • Understand and use basic hand and power tools
  • Understand and use a multimeter
  • Perform pedestal teardown and record data as required
  • Evaluate and refurbish motors and bearings of a pedestal
  • Reassemble a pedestal assembly following a procedure and fill out data sheets
  • Build and test electronic cables per a router and drawing
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor consistent with capabilities
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • High school/GED desired but not required and 1-3 years of work related experience in electrical/electronic systems
  • Able to perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Able to learn new tasks, interact with others, read and understand basic test instructions, and communicate in English
  • Some knowledge in mechanical/microelectronic manufacturing is helpful

Sr. Technician

Overview

BTP Systems, an established and fast growing DOD contractor specializing in the repair, sustainment, design, and testing of military SATCOM systems and support equipment, is seeking a Sr. Technician to perform non routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts. Contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work. 

Essential Functions

  • Review, analyze and integrate the technical work of others
  • Complete and review work for technical adequacy and satisfaction or requirements per supervisory or professional engineer outlined objectives, requirements and design approach
  • May train and be assisted by lower level technicians
  • Perform at the level of one or a combination of such typical duties as: Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment
  • Conduct tests or experiments
  • Analyze results and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance and report results
  • From general guidelines and specifications (e.g. size or weight requirements), develop designs for equipment without critical performance requirements which are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry
  • Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems and select from several possible design layouts
  • Calculate design data and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
  • Plan or assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance
  • Determine test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures
  • Conduct tests using all types of instruments
  • Analyze and evaluate test results and prepare reports on findings and recommendations
  • Perform all duties of a Tech I, II, III and IV
  • Self Management of projects and tasks including writing work instructions and procedures
  • Complete and submit test reports to Engineering for review
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor consistent with capabilities
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • High school/GED and Tech school desired 5-10 years of work related experience in electrical/electronic systems
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Possess a working knowledge of mechanical/microelectronic testing and troubleshooting
  • Ability to supervise and direct other techs, interact with others, and communicate in English
