Compact Antenna Test Range

 

The Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) allows for expedited testing of directional apertures with a 30” wide by 20” high by 40” long measurement zone in the frequency range from 6 to 100 GHz.  The CATR is comprised of a six-axis controller and a Scientific Atlanta Azimuth over Elevation 3-stage positioner used in concert with automated test and data capture software for improved efficiency.  Signal generation is handled by an Agilent E8257D 50 GHz PSG Analog Signal Generator and Agilent 83558A mm-Wave Source Module while signal measurement is accomplished via an Agilent HP 8757A Scalar Network Analyzer.  An HP/Agilent 8563EC Spectrum Analyzer and assortment of standard gain horns strategically placed are utilized to insure no errant harmonics/spurs are created by any active components in the antenna system being tested.  Inside the temperature controlled range pyramidal absorber is used for improved shielding, isolation and elimination of undesired reflections and multipath effects. A gantry crane assembly allows for smooth and safe transitions between different antenna systems being tested.
